Plan and billing

What your plan controls, how inbox placement credits work, and what changes when you move up or down a plan.

Where to look

Account, then Billing in the sidebar. That screen always shows your current plan, what it includes, and the exact numbers for your account. This page explains what those numbers mean rather than repeating them, because they change as plans change and a figure written here would go stale.

What a plan controls

Your plan sets four separate ceilings, and they are easy to confuse:

  • How many assets you can monitor. Domains, subdomains and IP addresses each count as one asset. See adding assets.
  • How often we check them. The check interval. A faster plan re-checks the same asset more often, so you hear about a listing sooner.
  • How many people can use the workspace. Team seats. See team and roles.
  • How many inbox placement tests you can run. Credits, below.

Hitting one ceiling does not affect the others. Running out of placement credits does not stop blacklist monitoring, and reaching your asset limit does not stop alerts on the assets you already have.

Inbox placement credits

Each placement test you create uses one credit. The allowance resets on your billing date, the same date the Billing screen shows as the start of your period, so a workspace that renews on the 14th gets fresh credits on the 14th. Unused credits do not carry over.

Rechecks are freeIf a test finishes with seeds still missing, Check now looks again at the same test and costs nothing. Only creating a new test costs a credit. So when a send did not reach every seed, recheck rather than starting over.

Two things about the timing catch people out:

  • The credit goes when the test is created, not when your mail arrives. A test is charged for as soon as it hands you the seed list and the identifier, because that is the point at which we have reserved seed mailboxes for you. If you then never send, the credit is still spent.
  • Deleting a test does not refund it. Tidying up the list does not give credits back, so delete for neatness rather than for budget.

Credits used and remaining for the current period are on the Billing screen, alongside the date they reset.

Extra limits

If you need more capacity than your plan includes without moving up a whole tier, the Billing screen offers extra limits as a separate purchase. This is useful when one number is the constraint, for example you need more monitored assets but the rest of the plan already fits.

Extra limits are added on top of your plan and are shown separately, so you can always see what came from the plan and what you added.

Changing plan

Moving up takes effect immediately. New limits apply straight away and you are charged the difference for the rest of the period.

Moving down is scheduled for the end of your current period rather than applied at once, so you keep what you have already paid for. The Billing screen shows a scheduled change while one is pending, and you can cancel it before it takes effect.

Read this before moving downIf you are monitoring more assets than the smaller plan allows, monitoring is paused on all of them, and you then resume the ones you want by hand, up to the new limit. Nothing is chosen for you, so nothing you needed is dropped by a guess, but nothing keeps running on its own either. Do this promptly: an asset left paused for seven days has its monitoring data removed. The app warns you while the clock is running, and resuming or moving back up stops it.

The same applies to Inbox Boost domains if the smaller plan includes fewer of them.

When a payment does not go through

The Billing screen says which state you are in: waiting for payment, or subscription required. While a payment is outstanding, monitoring is paused and checks stop, so treat a failed card as something to fix the same day rather than a warning you can sit on.

Nothing is deleted for a failed payment. Assets, history and past reports stay exactly where they are, and checks pick up again once the payment succeeds. That is the difference between a payment problem and being over a plan limit: only the second one has a clock on it.

Common questions

Does a recheck cost a credit? No. Only starting a new placement test does.

Do unused credits roll over? No. They reset on your billing date each period.

Can I get a credit back? No. It is spent at the moment the test is created, and deleting the test does not return it.

Who can see and change billing? Only members whose role includes the billing permission. See team and roles. Everyone else does not see the screen at all, rather than seeing it and being refused.

Does an asset I stopped monitoring still count? Yes, against the number of assets you may hold. Stopping it frees the checking, not the place. Remove it to free the place.
