Inbox Placement

Delivered isn't the same as seen.

A 100% delivery rate can hide a spam-folder disaster. Send a real email to a seed set across Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Zoho and AOL and see exactly which folder each provider filed it in.

How a test runs

Your real mail, through your real sending path.

No synthetic probes. A placement test is an actual email you send, from your own SMTP account or via the platform, measured where it lands.

Connect a sender

Store your own SMTP senders with presets for Gmail, Microsoft 365, Yahoo and Zoho, or custom SMTP, and verify with the test-connection button before use.

Send to your seed set

You get an assigned set of seed mailboxes across the covered providers. Send your real message to them, exactly as your campaign would.

Read the verdicts

Per provider: Primary/Inbox, Spam, Promotions, Updates, Social, Forums, or missing entirely. Re-check any test to re-poll the seeds.

Per-seed detail

Not just the folder, the why behind it.

Every seed mailbox reports back what the receiver actually recorded, so a spam verdict comes with evidence instead of guesswork.

  • Authentication as received, SPF, DKIM and DMARC results exactly as that provider evaluated them
  • Provider verdict signals, the provider-specific classification detail behind the folder decision
  • Missing detection, a message that never arrived is flagged, not silently ignored
  • Re-check support, re-poll the seeds for a test when mail arrives late

What a result can say

Every folder a provider can file you in.

Placement isn't binary. Each verdict tells you something different, and asks for a different fix.

Questions

Placement testing, explained.

Which providers are in the seed network?
Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Zoho and AOL. Each test sends to an assigned set of seed mailboxes across those providers and reports the folder per provider: Primary/Inbox, Spam, Promotions, Updates, Social, Forums, or missing entirely.
Do I have to send through SenderSignal?
No. You can send from your own SMTP account, there are presets for Gmail, Microsoft 365, Yahoo and Zoho, plus custom SMTP, with a test-connection button before use, or send via the platform. Testing your real sending path is the whole point.
What detail do I get per seed mailbox?
The folder the message landed in, the SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication results exactly as that receiver saw them, and provider-specific verdict signals. If a receiver saw your DKIM fail, you find out here, not from a campaign post-mortem.
What does “missing” mean in a result?
The message never arrived at that seed mailbox at all, not inbox, not spam, nothing. That usually points at a rejection or a block upstream of foldering, which is a different (and more urgent) problem than landing in Promotions.
How are tests billed?
Each test costs a credit, and monthly credits come with your plan. Re-checks are supported, you can re-poll the seeds for an existing test, for example after a message arrives late.
When should I run a placement test?
Before big campaigns, after DNS changes, and during an Inbox Boost ramp to verify the reputation you’re building is showing up as inbox placement.
