The Klaviyo playbook

Klaviyo sends the campaigns. Your domain still has to earn the inbox.

Klaviyo warms its dedicated IPs for you, but a new branded sending domain starts cold, and Klaviyo’s own guidance leaves warming it to you. Keep your flows and campaigns exactly where they are. Add your brand domain here and we build its reputation while Klaviyo keeps sending.

The Klaviyo playbook

Keep sending from Klaviyo. Warm the domain here.

Step 1

Set up a branded sending domain in Klaviyo

Until you do, mail goes out on Klaviyo’s shared sending domain and recipients see “via klaviyomail.com”. Klaviyo uses a dedicated subdomain such as send.yourbrand.com, authenticated with CNAME or NS records, and that subdomain should not be your From address.

Step 2

Know what Klaviyo warms, and what it does not

On a dedicated IP, Klaviyo moves traffic over automatically. A new or never-used sending domain is different: Klaviyo treats it as cold and gives you a manual warming process built around your most engaged segments.

Step 3

Add your brand domain to Inbox Boost

Use the domain in your From address, such as yourbrand.com. The sending subdomain Klaviyo uses, such as send.yourbrand.com, stays with Klaviyo. We set up what the domain needs and build its sender reputation for you. Nothing to connect to Klaviyo: no API key, no app, no change to your account.

Step 4

Keep every flow and campaign running in Klaviyo

Welcome series, abandoned cart, weekly campaigns: all of it stays in Klaviyo. Mailbox providers score the domain in your From address, so the reputation built here counts for every Klaviyo send from yourbrand.com.

Step 5

Check where Klaviyo mail lands

Inbox placement tests show whether your campaigns reach Primary, Promotions or Spam across the major mailbox providers, and blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain once it is warm.

  • Nothing to connect: no Klaviyo API key, app or integration
  • Nothing to change: flows, segments and templates stay exactly as they are
  • Shared or dedicated IP: it works either way, because the reputation belongs to the domain
  • Watched after warmup: blacklist and authentication monitoring on your brand domain

Questions

Klaviyo questions, answered.

Does Inbox Boost connect to my Klaviyo account?
No. There is no API key, app or integration to install. Inbox Boost works on your brand domain, and Klaviyo keeps sending your campaigns and flows exactly as it does now.
Klaviyo already warms dedicated IPs. Why warm the domain too?
Klaviyo’s automated warming moves traffic onto a dedicated IP. Your sending domain carries its own reputation with Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo, and Klaviyo treats a new or never-used domain as cold, with a manual warming process. Klaviyo itself says senders moving to new dedicated infrastructure still have to warm the domain.
I am on Klaviyo’s shared IPs. Does this still help?
Yes. On shared IPs the IP reputation is pooled with other Klaviyo senders, so the domain is the reputation that is actually yours. Building it here helps every campaign Klaviyo sends from it.
Do I need a branded sending domain in Klaviyo first?
We recommend it. Without one, Klaviyo sends from its shared klaviyomail.com domain and recipients see “via klaviyomail.com”, so the reputation your mail earns is not tied to your brand. Set up the branded sending domain in Klaviyo, then add yourbrand.com, the domain in your From address, here.
Can I see whether it is working?
Yes. Inbox placement tests show where your Klaviyo mail lands, Primary, Promotions or Spam, across the major mailbox providers, and blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain afterwards.
