The Lemlist playbook

Lemlist runs the campaigns. Your domain still has to earn the inbox.

Lemlist sends through the Google, Microsoft or SMTP and IMAP mailbox you connect, and lemwarm warms each mailbox’s primary address. Lemlist says lemwarm does not warm the whole domain directly. Keep your campaigns exactly where they are. Add the domain here and we build its reputation while Lemlist keeps sending.

The Lemlist playbook

Keep sending from Lemlist. Warm the domain here.

Step 1

Connect and authenticate your mailboxes

Google Workspace connects by OAuth and the Gmail API, Microsoft 365 by OAuth, and anything else by SMTP plus IMAP; transactional services such as SendGrid or Amazon SES cannot be connected. SPF, DKIM and DMARC come from your mailbox provider, and Lemlist’s Warmup Score wants all three present and valid.

Step 2

Know what lemwarm warms, and what it does not

lemwarm exchanges warm-up emails with the lemwarm pool and handles the replies, for each mailbox’s primary address. By Lemlist’s own account it does not warm aliases, shared or dedicated IPs, or the whole domain directly, and the Warmup Score measures warm-up quality rather than campaign placement.

Step 3

Add your sending domain to Inbox Boost

Add the domain your mailboxes send as, the one in your From address, such as outreach.yourbrand.com, and we build its sender reputation for you, alongside lemwarm. Nothing to connect: no API key, no app, no mailbox sign-in, no change to your Lemlist account.

Step 4

Keep every campaign running in Lemlist

Email steps, LinkedIn steps and sending limits stay in Lemlist. Lemlist itself notes that mailboxes on one provider share a single reputation rather than separate budgets. Mailbox providers score the domain in your From address, so the reputation built here counts for every mailbox sending as outreach.yourbrand.com.

Step 5

Check where Lemlist mail lands

Inbox placement tests show whether your campaign emails reach Primary, Promotions or Spam across the major mailbox providers, which the Warmup Score does not predict. Blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain once it is warm.

  • Nothing to connect: no Lemlist API key, app, integration or mailbox sign-in
  • Nothing to change: campaigns, lemwarm and sending limits stay exactly as they are
  • Every mailbox on the domain: the reputation belongs to the domain, so it counts for each mailbox sending from it
  • Watched after warmup: blacklist and authentication monitoring on your sending domain

Questions

Lemlist questions, answered.

Does Inbox Boost connect to my Lemlist account or mailboxes?
No. There is no API key, app or integration to install, and nothing signs in to your Google or Microsoft mailboxes. Inbox Boost works on the sending domain, and Lemlist keeps sending your campaigns exactly as it does now.
lemwarm already warms my mailboxes. Why warm the domain too?
lemwarm warms the primary address of each connected mailbox inside its pool, and Lemlist says it does not warm the whole domain directly. Mailbox providers score that domain too, and Inbox Boost works on it, alongside lemwarm. Keep lemwarm running as Lemlist recommends.
Why does Lemlist ask for a custom tracking domain?
With open or click tracking on, Lemlist blocks sending until a custom tracking domain is verified: a CNAME on a subdomain of yours plus a TXT verification record. That is separate from the sending domain’s reputation, and nothing about it changes when you add the domain to Inbox Boost.
What do Gmail and Outlook expect from my domain?
Authentication from your mailbox provider: SPF and DKIM, plus a DMARC record aligned with them. Gmail and Outlook both require all three from bulk senders, and Gmail counts mail from a primary domain and its subdomains together. Lemlist’s Warmup Score checks the same three records.
Can I see whether it is working?
Yes. Inbox placement tests show where your Lemlist campaign emails land, Primary, Promotions or Spam, across the major mailbox providers. That is campaign placement, which the Warmup Score does not predict. Blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain afterwards.
