The Mailjet playbook

Mailjet sends the email. Your domain still has to earn the inbox.

Mailjet’s support team builds warm-up plans for dedicated IPs, but most senders are on shared IPs, where there is no IP of yours to warm and a new sending domain starts with no history. Keep sending through the Mailjet API, SMTP relay or campaign builder exactly as you do now. Add your brand domain here and we build its reputation while Mailjet keeps sending.

The Mailjet playbook

Keep sending from Mailjet. Warm the domain here.

Step 1

Validate and authenticate the sending domain

Mailjet will not send from an address or domain until it has validated it. Validate the whole domain with the ownership TXT record rather than single addresses, then publish SPF and the DKIM TXT record at mailjet._domainkey. Paid accounts can also set a custom Return-Path through Mailjet support.

Step 2

Know what Mailjet warms, and what it does not

For dedicated IPs, which sit on Premium plans and are requested through support, Mailjet’s deliverability team builds a tailored warm-up plan that you send against on your normal sending days. Shared-IP senders have no warm-up feature, and there the domain is the reputation that is yours. Mailjet also advises against sending from recently purchased or inactive domains.

Step 3

Add your brand domain to Inbox Boost

Use the domain in your From address, such as yourapp.com. Any custom Return-Path you set up through Mailjet stays with Mailjet. We set up what the domain needs and build its sender reputation for you. Nothing to connect to Mailjet: no API key, no webhook, no change to your account.

Step 4

Keep every send running in Mailjet

Password resets over the API, notifications over SMTP, newsletters from the campaign builder: all of it stays in Mailjet. Mailbox providers score the domain in your From address, so the reputation built here counts for every Mailjet send from yourapp.com.

Step 5

Check where Mailjet mail lands

Inbox placement tests show whether your mail reaches the inbox or Spam across the major mailbox providers, and blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain once it is warm.

  • Nothing to connect: no Mailjet API key, webhook or integration
  • Nothing to change: your code, SMTP settings and campaigns stay exactly as they are
  • Shared or dedicated IP: it works either way, because the reputation belongs to the domain
  • Watched after warmup: blacklist and authentication monitoring on your brand domain
See it play out

A Mailjet domain, warmed without pausing a single send.

Four checkpoints, in order. Click any step or let it play.

Questions

Mailjet questions, answered.

Does Inbox Boost connect to my Mailjet account?
No. There is no API key, webhook or integration to set up. Inbox Boost works on your brand domain, and Mailjet keeps sending your mail exactly as it does now.
Mailjet plans warm-ups for dedicated IPs. Why warm the domain too?
Mailjet’s warm-up plan ramps a new dedicated IP, which starts with a neutral reputation. Mailjet itself says a good domain reputation helps but does not replace IP warm-up, and the reverse holds too: your sending domain carries its own reputation with Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo, and a new domain starts with no history.
I am on Mailjet’s shared IPs. Does this still help?
Yes. Shared IPs have no warm-up feature, and their reputation is shared with other Mailjet senders, so the domain is the reputation that is actually yours. Building it here helps everything Mailjet sends from it.
Can I start with a newly registered domain?
Mailjet advises against sending from recently purchased or inactive domains, and wants the sending domain tied to an active website. Set that up and validate the domain in Mailjet first, then add your brand domain, the one in your From address, here.
Can I see whether it is working?
Yes. Inbox placement tests show where your Mailjet mail lands, inbox or Spam, across the major mailbox providers, and blacklist monitoring keeps watching the domain afterwards.
